Edsel came out on Sunday, good communication and texted he'd be here. When he got here, he confirmed my suspicions that it was a capacitor which is a very simple repair/installation (for lack of a better analogy, it is loosely equivalent to replacing a fuse in a car...not too hard)...and he said it would be about $200, but he may be able to discount it for me somewhat. Having suspected it was the capacitor, I had already ordered one the previous night and it was to be delivered to my house via Amazon...it cost $17. So I told him I'd wait for it to arrive and install it myself instead of paying a $180 markup on a $17 part. He said OK, but since he didn't install it and did not have a "sample" or "working' capacator...he could not check the rest of the system...so that was the end of the service call...fair enough I guess, but it would have been nice to have the rest of the system checked. So he then said the service call was $209...so I tried to remember from my original phone call with the dispatcher...and the cost should be $179...so Edsel accepted that and I paid him in cash....but kinda felt like it had been a price negotiation...which I wasn't expecting.
The following day I get an e-mail from Green Leaf with invoice for $179...but it doesn't say paid...so I call them, and the lady who answered at first asked how I'd like to pay...I said I did...and she checked and verified it...and agreed and sent me a e-mail with a "paid" invoice. She also confirmed that the capacitor part is normally priced at between $150-$180...which is still about a 10x markup (remember, you've already paid for a labor/service call), but she did say that it is covered by 1 year parts and service warranty.
Final Analysis: EXCELLENT RESPONSE TIME and Edsel did seem very qualified at his job.
COST/PRICING: Seemed to be always a negotiation that I had to be aware of...and I get that they need to make money...but up to you whether you think the parts 10x markup is excessive or not...for me, I think it was since a service call had already been paid for.
Honest, trustworthy and get the job done right!
Highly recommend 😊
While Eddie and I had a disagreement on the unit installed, Eddie went out of his way to get it resolved. I finally agreed with him.
I will use them again.
As for most folks that evaluate a company, they have their checklist for rating and ranking. So here is a quick summary on a scale of 1-10 (10 being the best).
1) Cost 8.5 - very competitive cost quote, took extra time to develop/deliver several quotes & proposals. Easy to work with.
2) Quality: 9.5 - top marks for the quality of work, equipment, and technicians (Josh) + installers (Fernando & helper).
3) Dependable & Professional 10 - show up on time as scheduled, very polite, professional, skilled and knowledgeable.
4) Job installation: 10 - completed on time; very professional work.
5) Follow up by owner: 10 - very impressed that Eddie took the time to reach out and make sure everything was completed to our satisfaction.
Overall, give them a 5+ star rating and would definitely recommend them to friends & family!

The last time i had service was a couple of weeks ago and I was happy with the tech and service. They did charge $180.00 for a $14.00 part and 120.00 to replace it.
My previous review is below.
Green leaf always provides great service and guidance! Currently I am waiting for a warrantied part.
After reviewing other quotes, I decided to stick with Green Leaf. The reason was the quote was "mid-range", not too low such that the job is not done well, and not too high such that they are just going after money. As well as the professionalism demonstrated by Edzel on site. Everything was documented by taking pictures so that it could be relayed to his supervisors and get feedback on his analysis. This "double check" helps, to get things right the first time.
I like they notified me at each stage as well as with who was on route. The e-mail contains a small bio on the person arriving at your door, notified via text, and with the larger install, a call on the estimated arrival time. The install went well, and this is another place Green Leaf shinned from my previous company experience. After the previous contractor took a "brute force" approach on the air handler and cut / re-wired to get one function working, Green Leaf took the time to correctly re-wire it and get the entire unit working. This surprised me as they had only installed the condenser but went above and beyond to fix a different component (no fault of theirs) at no charge. They had my homes best interest in mind to get everything working that day. Such that the owner (Eddie) called to follow up on the job and any further concerns I may have.
I would gladly recommend them and re-hire them if needed.

Green Leaf Residential and Commercial HVAC Service
We Meet You Where You Are At
Green Leaf HVAC Repair is proud to offer both residential and commercial HVAC repair services for the Round Rock and North Austin area. While there are a lot of similarities between the two, there are also key differences that should be taken into consideration when making decisions about your heating, ventilation, and air conditioning needs. Let’s take a look at how residential and commercial HVAC repair differ.
Residential HVAC repair is typically limited in scope. A residential technician will usually only work with one system at a time, whereas a commercial technician can work with multiple systems in different locations. This means that commercial technicians need to have a greater depth of knowledge than residential technicians so they can handle problems quickly and efficiently. Additionally, since commercial systems tend to be bigger than those found in homes, the HVAC repair technician must have experience working on larger systems.
Residential HVAC repair typically uses parts that are designed for smaller systems and therefore cost less than those used for larger commercial systems. This means that residential HVAC repairs tend to be more affordable than commercial HVAC repairs because they rely on more affordable parts. However, it is important to note that while this may save you money upfront, it could end up costing you more in the long run if the parts used are not made from high-quality materials or do not last as long as their more expensive counterparts.
Since commercial HVAC repairs often require more labor than residential HVAC repairs (due to their larger size), they tend to be more expensive overall. Commercial HVAC repair technicians may charge an hourly rate for their services or charge based on the job itself—whichever works best for you given your budget constraints. It is important to remember that when hiring an HVAC repair technician for either type of job, it is always better to pay for quality over quantity; sometimes paying slightly more upfront can save you money in the long run because the job will get done right the first time around!
At Green Leaf HVAC Repair, we understand how important it is to make sure your heating and cooling system is running properly—whether you own a home or operate a business! Defining An HVAC System
What Is It, Why Does It Matter, and How To Maintain It
Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems are one of the most important components of any home or business. They’re responsible for keeping you comfortable by regulating the temperature in your living space, as well as filtering out contaminants that could negatively impact your air quality and overall quality of life.
An HVAC system is a combination of components that work together to regulate the temperature and air quality in a residential or commercial environment. The system includes a furnace, an air conditioner, a thermostat, ductwork, vents, filters, and other components that help keep your living space comfortable year-round. Depending on the type of system you have installed in your home or business, it may also include an indoor air quality device such as an ultraviolet light filter or dehumidifier.
Maintaining your HVAC system is essential for ensuring the comfort of your living environment. Without regular maintenance and repair services from Green Leaf AC Repair in Round Rock & North Austin area, these systems can become inefficient over time due to wear-and-tear caused by everyday use. This can lead to higher energy bills due to increased energy consumption and shorter system life spans as parts wear out faster than they should. Additionally, if not properly maintained an HVAC system can also become a safety hazard because malfunctioning components can cause fires or dangerous gas leaks.
An efficient and well-maintained HVAC system is essential for maintaining optimal temperatures within homes and businesses alike. With reliable service from Green Leaf AC Repair in Round Rock & North Austin area , homeowners can rest assured knowing their heating and cooling systems are running smoothly all year round while enjoying lower energy bills thanks to improved efficiency. Regular maintenance not only keeps energy costs down—it helps protect against potential safety hazards like gas leaks or fires due to malfunctioning equipment or parts! Don’t take chances with something as important as climate control; make sure you get professional service from Green Leaf HVAC company today!

Understanding How HVAC Systems Work
The What, Why, and How of Your Home or Office’s System
Understanding how your home or office’s HVAC system works is the key to keeping it healthy and efficient. While the acronym might sound mysterious and intimidating, the thought of keeping cool in the summer and warm in the winter doesn’t have to come with an intimidating learning curve. In its simplest form, a HVAC system takes hot air from inside your building and pushes it outside – while drawing in cool outside air to replace it.
It does this by a few simple steps: First, it draws air from inside the building into a blower powered by electricity, which then redistributes that warm air across multiple coils called evaporator coils. This is where part two comes in – when slime-fighting Freon is converted from liquid to gas as coolant passes through these coils; cooling them off as they become very cold. The blower then pumps cool air throughout your house or workspace via ducts or vents leaving you comfortable all year round. Now that you understand the basic story behind your home’s climate control comfort – you can rest assured knowing you have a detailed understanding of what lies behind your most distinctly modern convenience.
The Basics of Your HVAC System
Your HVAC system is responsible for regulating the temperature and humidity inside your building. It does this by providing both heating and cooling services through a network of ducts, pipes, fans, vents, outlets, and controls. In order for the system to work properly, each component must be in good working condition. This includes things like air filters which play a key role in ensuring pollutants are not circulated throughout your home or office.
When it comes to cooling systems—air conditioners specifically—they will typically consist of two main components: an evaporator coil and a condenser coil. The evaporator coil cools the air as it passes over it while the condenser coil releases heat from within the unit into the outside air. The two coils are connected via refrigerant lines which contain special fluids that transport heat from one location to another as part of an exchange process.
In addition to these components, there are also fan motors that help circulate air through ductwork as well as thermostats that allow you to control the temperature settings inside your building. All of these elements combine together to create a functioning HVAC system that effectively keeps everyone comfortable year-round no matter what season it is outside!
Different Kinds of HVAC Systems
The type of HVAC system that works best for your home or business depends on several factors such as the size of your space and local climate conditions. Here are some common types of systems available:
A split system consists of an indoor unit and outdoor unit connected by refrigeration lines known as “refrigerant lines” which contain coolant gas used to cool down air in order to reduce humidity levels indoors. Split-systems are usually used for residential settings but can also be used for commercial buildings depending on their size.
We specifically offer ductless mini split systems here at Green Leaf. Ductless mini split HVAC systems are heating and cooling units that don’t require any ductwork or ceiling installation – very unique compared to traditional central air systems! This means they can provide efficient climate control in a home or office without the hassle of having to install extensive ducting. They are often found in areas with limited space, such as apartments or small homes, where they can be remarkably effective due to their size. Additionally, ductless mini split systems often have energy star ratings and some come with Wi-Fi capabilities so you can even control your unit remotely! Even if you have a full-sized central system, having a ductless mini split in certain rooms can provide extra efficiency and convenience. So don’t feel like you need to stick with the same old technology – jump on board with these revolutionary ductless HVAC units!
A package unit contains all components needed for heating or cooling within one cabinet located outside the building’s structure. It is typically used in smaller spaces because it takes up less room than split-systems and does not require any ductwork installation. Package units are ideal for businesses with limited space or homes located in cooler climates where heating needs may be greater than cooling needs.
A heat pump uses electricity instead of fuel like natural gas to transfer energy from one place to another in order to heat or cool air indoors using less energy than other systems do. Heat pumps are often used in warm climates because they can both heat and cool air while being more efficient than other options available on the market today.

Common Problems With HVAC Systems
Do You Need A Professional HVAC Repair Specialist?
Whether you’re experiencing an issue with your air conditioning unit or are looking for preventative maintenance, Green Leaf AC is here to help. Let’s take a look at some of the most common problems people experience in our area.
One of the most common issues that arise with HVAC systems is a clogged air filter. Air filters are designed to keep dirt, dust, pollen, and other debris from entering your system and creating buildup inside. When a filter becomes clogged, your system has to work harder than usual to keep up with cooling needs and can result in higher energy bills or even system failure over time. Regularly replacing air filters helps protect your unit from unnecessary strain and ensures you get the most out of it for years to come.
Another common issue that arises with air conditioners is poor cooling or inadequate airflow. This could be due to low refrigerant levels or an obstruction within the ductwork, but whatever the cause may be, it should be addressed as soon as possible by an experienced technician like those at Green Leaf AC. A variety of factors such as dirty coils or blocked vents can also lead to poor cooling performance, so having a professional inspect your system can help identify any potential problems before they become more severe.
When moisture accumulates on the evaporator coil during normal operation of your system, it can freeze up and create a blockage between the coil and fan motor that prevents air from circulating properly throughout your home or office space. If left unaddressed for too long, this frozen coil can lead to permanent damage to both components of your air conditioning unit—the evaporator coil and fan motor—so addressing this problem quickly is essential for keeping your system running smoothly.

How To Know When It’s Time To Replace Your HVAC System
Stop Wasting Money On Outrageous Energy Bills
An unreliable HVAC system can lead to uncomfortable temperatures and high energy bills. That’s why it’s important to know when it’s time to replace your HVAC system. Green Leaf AC can help Round Rock and North Austin homeowners and business operators determine if they need a new AC unit or not.
Signs You Need A New Unit
The most obvious sign that you need a new unit is if your current one isn’t working properly anymore. Common signs of an inefficient AC unit include loud noises, strange smells, insufficient cooling, or leaky ductwork. If you notice any of these issues, then it may be time for a replacement.
Another sign that it might be time for a new unit is if your old one is over 10 years old. Older units don’t run as efficiently as newer ones do and they are more likely to break down faster than newer models. As technology advances, newer units are designed with improved efficiency in mind so replacing an older model could save you money in the long run on energy costs.
You should also consider replacing your unit if you find yourself having to repair it often for the same issue(s). If you are consistently paying for repairs on an older model then chances are it would be more cost-effective to just invest in a newer unit instead of continually repairing the old one over and over again.
