Professional Grade Ductless Mini Split Installation in Austin, Texas
HVAC that Gives You Greater Control Over the Temperature of Your Home

What Is A Mini Split Air Conditioner and Why Is It Ductless?
What You Need to Know About Ductless Mini Splits
Ductless Mini Splits have recently become the most popular HVAC unit on the market. This is because they have been designed to control your home’s temperature while saving you money.
Mini-splits have three main components. There is an outdoor unit, an indoor unit, and line sets. The condensing unit sits outside. Condenser coils send air through line sets leading to the indoor units. Line sets are small tubes of refrigerant that connect the units through small holes in the wall. The indoor units are typically wall-mounted. Ductless mini splits capture air in their zone and pull it over cold coils. They then blow the air back out into the room. There are no ducts involved to carry air around. There are only copper line sets that circulate refrigerant and trap heat to take outside.

Green Leaf Mini Split Installation Will Change the Way You do Air
How Are Ductless Mini Splits Different Than Central Air
Traditional air conditioners have a series of ducts that carry air through your home. It heats up or cools this air down to a set temperature and pushes it into the different rooms. Central air systems maintain the temperature of your entire house in one setting.

Mini Split Installation is Expensive so Maintenance Matters!
Tips for Maintaining Your Ductless Mini Split
The best thing you can do to honor your mini split installation is to keep up with your system maintenance. Maintenance is easy and revolves around keeping the unit dust and dirt free.
First, you need to turn off the system and give it time to cool down whenever you plan to clean it. The filters are reusable, but you should take them out and clean them once a month. You cannot allow dust to build up on the indoor units. Not even on their exterior. Dusting them every so often will keep excess dirt from building up. You should also keep furniture at least 4 feet away from the indoor units. Doing this will further prevent excess dust buildup. Remember that allowing dust and dirt to build makes your system work harder and costs you more electricity.
Next, take a look at your outdoor unit. You cannot allow dirt to build up there, either. Coils are an essential element to the health of your mini split. When dirt builds up on them, they trap heat inside. This can turn into a big problem down the road. To keep them from collecting buildup, use a regular garden hose and spray it at the outdoor unit. It would be best if you were careful not to bend the fins. But, if you do, it is okay. There is a tool called a fin comb that can easily straighten them back out. Be careful not to leave them bent for too long. This is a great way to put your compressor in an early grave.
