Edsel came out on Sunday, good communication and texted he'd be here. When he got here, he confirmed my suspicions that it was a capacitor which is a very simple repair/installation (for lack of a better analogy, it is loosely equivalent to replacing a fuse in a car...not too hard)...and he said it would be about $200, but he may be able to discount it for me somewhat. Having suspected it was the capacitor, I had already ordered one the previous night and it was to be delivered to my house via Amazon...it cost $17. So I told him I'd wait for it to arrive and install it myself instead of paying a $180 markup on a $17 part. He said OK, but since he didn't install it and did not have a "sample" or "working' capacator...he could not check the rest of the system...so that was the end of the service call...fair enough I guess, but it would have been nice to have the rest of the system checked. So he then said the service call was $209...so I tried to remember from my original phone call with the dispatcher...and the cost should be $179...so Edsel accepted that and I paid him in cash....but kinda felt like it had been a price negotiation...which I wasn't expecting.
The following day I get an e-mail from Green Leaf with invoice for $179...but it doesn't say paid...so I call them, and the lady who answered at first asked how I'd like to pay...I said I did...and she checked and verified it...and agreed and sent me a e-mail with a "paid" invoice. She also confirmed that the capacitor part is normally priced at between $150-$180...which is still about a 10x markup (remember, you've already paid for a labor/service call), but she did say that it is covered by 1 year parts and service warranty.
Final Analysis: EXCELLENT RESPONSE TIME and Edsel did seem very qualified at his job.
COST/PRICING: Seemed to be always a negotiation that I had to be aware of...and I get that they need to make money...but up to you whether you think the parts 10x markup is excessive or not...for me, I think it was since a service call had already been paid for.
Honest, trustworthy and get the job done right!
Highly recommend 😊
While Eddie and I had a disagreement on the unit installed, Eddie went out of his way to get it resolved. I finally agreed with him.
I will use them again.
As for most folks that evaluate a company, they have their checklist for rating and ranking. So here is a quick summary on a scale of 1-10 (10 being the best).
1) Cost 8.5 - very competitive cost quote, took extra time to develop/deliver several quotes & proposals. Easy to work with.
2) Quality: 9.5 - top marks for the quality of work, equipment, and technicians (Josh) + installers (Fernando & helper).
3) Dependable & Professional 10 - show up on time as scheduled, very polite, professional, skilled and knowledgeable.
4) Job installation: 10 - completed on time; very professional work.
5) Follow up by owner: 10 - very impressed that Eddie took the time to reach out and make sure everything was completed to our satisfaction.
Overall, give them a 5+ star rating and would definitely recommend them to friends & family!

The last time i had service was a couple of weeks ago and I was happy with the tech and service. They did charge $180.00 for a $14.00 part and 120.00 to replace it.
My previous review is below.
Green leaf always provides great service and guidance! Currently I am waiting for a warrantied part.
After reviewing other quotes, I decided to stick with Green Leaf. The reason was the quote was "mid-range", not too low such that the job is not done well, and not too high such that they are just going after money. As well as the professionalism demonstrated by Edzel on site. Everything was documented by taking pictures so that it could be relayed to his supervisors and get feedback on his analysis. This "double check" helps, to get things right the first time.
I like they notified me at each stage as well as with who was on route. The e-mail contains a small bio on the person arriving at your door, notified via text, and with the larger install, a call on the estimated arrival time. The install went well, and this is another place Green Leaf shinned from my previous company experience. After the previous contractor took a "brute force" approach on the air handler and cut / re-wired to get one function working, Green Leaf took the time to correctly re-wire it and get the entire unit working. This surprised me as they had only installed the condenser but went above and beyond to fix a different component (no fault of theirs) at no charge. They had my homes best interest in mind to get everything working that day. Such that the owner (Eddie) called to follow up on the job and any further concerns I may have.
I would gladly recommend them and re-hire them if needed.

Commercial Air Conditioning Units
How They Differ From Residential Systems
Commercial A/C repairs can be difficult and expensive issues to tackle, especially when you’re unclear on how they differ from residential units. Knowing what sets commercial air conditioning systems apart will help ensure that you have the right system for your needs.
The biggest difference between commercial and residential units is size. In fact, most exterior commercial a/c units are housed on the roof. Keeping them there minimizes the noise put off by the machine and saves room. Other significant differences between the two units come from the demand placed on them. For example, they are responsible for maintaining the temperature of larger spaces. It is also common for there to be more bodies present in that space. More bodies mean more heat to remove but also more humidity. As a result, commercial units need more complex drainage systems to account for the extra moisture. On average, the equipment in a commercial HVAC unit is more complex all around. Smaller residential units have different demands than commercial cooling systems. This means they need special equipment.
The larger, more complex commercial unit needs more energy to operate. This makes them more expensive to run, even more so if the unit is poorly maintained. Complex machinery requires specialized service. It also requires more in-depth maintenance. You cannot trust your commercial unit to just anyone. You need a commercial AC repair technician that is well-versed in your specific type of commercial unit. You want a team that is passionate about your needs. Green Leaf specializes in both Residential and Commercial A/C Repair.

Life Expectancy of Typical Commercial Air Conditioning Units
Are You Getting The Most Out Of Your Commercial A/C?
The typical age range for most commercial air conditioning units is 15-20 years. That said, several factors reduce life expectancy if not maintained. Proper maintenance is key to prolonging your commercial system’s life to year 20.
Changing the filters does not seem like it should be a big deal, but it is the easiest thing you can do to maintain your a/c. This simple task could be the difference between a system that lasts 13 years and one that makes it to 20. Dirt and debris trapped inside the air conditioner clog the airways. Build-up will cost you in the long run through energy use and costly repairs. Keeping the airways clean keeps your air conditioner running efficiently More in-depth preventative maintenance tasks will also help. These include:
- cleaning the air ducts
- cleaning internal and external components
- replacing any worn parts
Getting the most out of your a/c can only happen with a certified professional.
Maintenance is very important. Your unit has no hope of making it to year ten if it is not maintained correctly. While you control several things, many aspects affect the life expectancy of your a/c. A lot of them you have little control over.
Many factors affect the life expectancy of your a/c. There are a few that you can counteract, but you have very little control over most of them. Outside stressors to the unit have a big part to play.
Type of weather
Your location will have much to do with which parts of your system wear out faster. For example, air conditioners take a lot of strain in places like Texas, where it is hot most of the year.
Intensity of weather
As with the type of weather, the level at which your system experiences weather plays a role. That is because systems that have to work harder wear out more quickly.
Choosing the right system and technicians
Your a/c needs to be fitted to the size of your building. If it is not, the unit will have to work harder to cool the area. This costs more in energy and, again, causes it to wear out sooner. Hiring commercial AC repair technicians who are knowledgeable in commercial a/c is so important. Commercial air conditioners are complex pieces of machinery. It’s best to hire a technician who specializes in your specific unit.
Green leaf technicians are licensed in commercial a/c repairs, replacements, and maintenance. We want you to rest easy. With a Green Leaf technician, you will know that you have the right commercial A/C unit and that it was installed correctly. Common HVAC Complications That Need Commercial A/C Repair
Find Small Issues Before They Become Big Problems
Preventative maintenance tasks performed regularly will reduce your need for Commercial A/C repair. In-depth professional inspections will continue to bring down your A/C risk level. Does that mean nothing will ever go wrong? Sadly, no. There are many issues that can arise with such complex machinery.
Your system’s coils are a great example of this. Frozen evaporator coils could be caused by dirty filters, a refrigerant leak, or a broken fan. All three of these issues cause disturbances with heat transference. When cool air cannot escape the unit, it gets too cold, and pieces freeze. Freezing is a huge issue in commercial units because of their placement, so this is something to keep an eye on.
Compressor Failure is another huge problem with commercial air conditioners. The compressor sends refrigerant through your air conditioner’s coils and allows it to remove warm air from the building. Once your compressor has failed, your system is inoperable. Here are some possible causes of a failed compressor:
Even a tiny puncture in the line can build up. As your compressor loses refrigerant, it has to work harder to do its job.
These coils help remove heat from the system. Unfortunately, dirt and debris buildup, trapping heat in the coils and preventing it from being released. As pressure builds, compressor failure is inevitable.
There are so many things that can go wrong with your commercial air conditioning unit. Most issues are timely and expensive. That is why it is so important to have a commercial A/C technician that you can trust.
We will help you troubleshoot your problem and find a solution. We know productivity is key to raising the bottom line and that unhappy employees do less. That is why we offer same-day appointments for commercial a/c repair. Call a Green Leaf commercial AC repair technician today.

Commercial A/C Repair and Signs That Something Is Wrong with Your Unit
When to Call a Technician Licensed in Commercial Air Conditioning
No matter how much care you put into your air conditioner, something will go wrong. Knowing what signs to look for can save you lots of time and money on costly repairs.
Insufficient refrigerant is the most common problem found in air conditioning systems. If it is not cooling correctly, low refrigerant is most likely the cause, but there could be a leak. Pooling or moisture around the unit is an excellent way to tell if you have a leak. Refilling the refrigerant is an easy task to manage. Leaks, on the other hand, need to be addressed by a professional immediately. Prolonged use of a system with insufficient refrigerant leads to compressor failure.
If your system starts blowing warm air, it could be due to low refrigerant. However, it more likely indicates that the compressor is going out. Warm air is a sign that it cannot recycle refrigerant throughout the system. Inefficient or reduced airflow could also spell trouble for your compressor. Call a commercially certified technician right away if you are experiencing these issues. Other problems that sign trouble for your compressor include:
- difficulty turning on
- continuous running
- tripped circuit breakers
- pooling around the unit
Strange or unfamiliar sounds made by your commercial a/c unit can imply a couple of different problems. Excessive vibrating on system startup typically indicates impending compressor failure. Banging noises can mean there are broken or loose parts. Tightening bolts and replacing old parts can stop the noise and save you a future headache. Buzzing sounds most often come from a dirty filter, debris buildup, leaks in the unit, or a failing fan motor. If you hear a high-pitched whistle, you need a Green Leaf commercial a/c repair consult immediately.
There are so many things that can go wrong with your commercial air conditioning unit. Most issues are timely and expensive. That is why it is so important to have a commercial A/C technician that you can trust.

Commercial A/C Repair Versus Total A/C Replacement
Confidence in the Bottom Line Starts with Keeping your Office Cool
Knowing whether a/c repairs are enough for your commercial space is difficult. Sometimes the damage is beyond repair, and you need a new system. Sometimes you don’t need a new system but will spend less in the long run if you upgrade now. There are always more energy-efficient air conditioning units coming on the market. You need someone you can trust to lead you in the right direction.
Start by asking a Green Leaf technician how much it will cost to repair your air conditioner. Often you realize that a new system saves you money in the long run because costs get offset by the money you save on electricity and repairs. If it has been a long time since you upgraded your system, it may be time. Newer models are more efficient because they use less energy to control temperatures in larger spaces.
Next, consider how well your HVAC unit is performing. Is it cooling the room consistently? Inconsistencies mean that your A/C needs to be more powerful to cool your space. You can also look for inconsistencies in your energy bills. For example, spikes in your seasonal energy use as compared to the previous year means a dip in performance. Commercial air conditioning units are complex pieces of machinery. To care for it properly, you will need:
- a trusted professional.
- someone who can guide you through choosing a new unit.
- someone that understands the ins and outs of commercial a/c repair and installation.
- someone that cares about your bottom line.
Green Leaf technicians are certified in every commercial HVAC service you may need. We will troubleshoot the problem and guide you through picking a new system if required. We can also install it for you and ensure it is maintained to perfection. Let Us Save You Money!
