Edsel came out on Sunday, good communication and texted he'd be here. When he got here, he confirmed my suspicions that it was a capacitor which is a very simple repair/installation (for lack of a better analogy, it is loosely equivalent to replacing a fuse in a car...not too hard)...and he said it would be about $200, but he may be able to discount it for me somewhat. Having suspected it was the capacitor, I had already ordered one the previous night and it was to be delivered to my house via Amazon...it cost $17. So I told him I'd wait for it to arrive and install it myself instead of paying a $180 markup on a $17 part. He said OK, but since he didn't install it and did not have a "sample" or "working' capacator...he could not check the rest of the system...so that was the end of the service call...fair enough I guess, but it would have been nice to have the rest of the system checked. So he then said the service call was $209...so I tried to remember from my original phone call with the dispatcher...and the cost should be $179...so Edsel accepted that and I paid him in cash....but kinda felt like it had been a price negotiation...which I wasn't expecting.
The following day I get an e-mail from Green Leaf with invoice for $179...but it doesn't say paid...so I call them, and the lady who answered at first asked how I'd like to pay...I said I did...and she checked and verified it...and agreed and sent me a e-mail with a "paid" invoice. She also confirmed that the capacitor part is normally priced at between $150-$180...which is still about a 10x markup (remember, you've already paid for a labor/service call), but she did say that it is covered by 1 year parts and service warranty.
Final Analysis: EXCELLENT RESPONSE TIME and Edsel did seem very qualified at his job.
COST/PRICING: Seemed to be always a negotiation that I had to be aware of...and I get that they need to make money...but up to you whether you think the parts 10x markup is excessive or not...for me, I think it was since a service call had already been paid for.
Honest, trustworthy and get the job done right!
Highly recommend 😊

Air Conditioner Replacement is a Big Decision
Let us Help Make it an Easy One
Air conditioning is an essential part of living comfortably in Austin, TX. As the summer months get hotter and drier, it’s important to make sure your air conditioning system runs properly. Green Leaf can help provide valuable insight on whether your unit should be repaired or replaced, and then we can do the work ourselves to ensure that it is done right the first time.
We don’t believe in doing anything halfway, and our AC replacement services reflect that. We have a team of experienced technicians who can quickly assess your air conditioner and determine the best course of action. Our ac replacement experts are knowledgeable in the most advanced technology available, ensuring you get the highest performance and reliability possible. We pride ourselves on providing exceptional customer service, and our technicians guarantee their workmanship.
It may be time for an air conditioner replacement if your current air conditioning system is more than ten years old, does not provide enough cooling, requires frequent repairs, or has seen a rise in energy bills. Additionally, some signs that it’s time for an AC replacement include excessive noise from the unit, a lack of cool air coming from vents, and poor humidity control in the home.
The Age of the Unit
One way to determine if replacement is necessary. If the unit is more than ten years old, the efficiency will start going down, and you may start having repair issues with older parts that are no longer available or too expensive to replace. Additionally, newer units offer more energy savings compared to models from 10 years ago or more. A newer model may be able to save you money on your monthly utility bill due to its higher energy efficiency rating.
Costly Repairs
Another sign that you may need an ac replacement or new system is frequent breakdowns and costly repairs. If you have had a few major repairs over the last few years, these costs could add up quickly and eventually surpass the cost of a new system. In this case, it would make sense financially to go ahead and invest in a new unit instead of continuing with costly repairs on an older system.
Noise Level
Does your air conditioner make loud noises while running? Most units should operate quietly without any rattling sounds coming from them. If your unit suddenly becomes noisier than usual, it could signify something major is wrong with it, and an ac replacement may be needed soon.
When it comes to an AC replacement, you have several options available. Central air conditioning systems are the most common type of cooling system used in residential homes and small businesses. These systems use two main components—an outdoor condenser unit and an indoor evaporator coil—to circulate cold air throughout your space. There are also ductless mini-split systems which allow you to control the temperature in individual rooms or zones within your home or business. And lastly, there are heat pump systems which are ideal for temperate climates as they both cool and heat your space depending on the season.
When selecting an AC replacement system, there are several factors that should be taken into account, such as size of your home or business space, budget constraints, energy efficiency ratings (EER), noise levels, warranty periods offered by manufacturers/installers, local zoning regulations, etc. It’s important to do thorough research before making a decision so that you can ensure you get the best system for your specific needs and budget requirements.
The Benefits of Replacing An Old Air Conditioner
Setting You Up With A New, High-Efficiency Model
Replacing an old or inefficient air conditioner isn’t just a money-saving decision; it’s a decision with long-term benefits for your home and wallet. A new air conditioner can reduce energy bills, as well as the amount of maintenance and repair that would otherwise be required because of an old unit. In addition, a new system can help keep your home more comfortable by running more quietly, cooling faster, and evenly distributing cool air throughout the space. Moreover, the newer models help keep pollutants like dust, mold, and allergens out of the air while continuing to clean the air in your home efficiently. Replacing an outdated AC unit can have both short-term and long-term economic rewards – you’ll see a quick payoff when it comes to lower energy bills right away, but in the future, that same investment will prevent much more frequent (and costlier) repairs and replacements. Now is certainly a great time to consider upgrading your AC system to reap these benefits!
One of the biggest benefits of replacing your old air conditioner with a newer model is the potential for energy savings. Today’s top models are designed to be much more efficient than their predecessors, which means they use less energy while providing superior cooling power. As a result, you’ll save on your monthly energy bills while still keeping your home or business comfortable during the year’s hottest months.
In addition to saving on utility bills, replacing an old system with a new one can help reduce maintenance costs over time. Newer systems usually require less frequent maintenance than their older counterparts since they are designed to run more efficiently and last longer. This means that not only can you save on utility bills but also on repair costs as well!
Older air conditioners may not be able to keep up with changing temperatures in different areas of your home or office building. This can leave some rooms uncomfortably warm or cold compared to other parts of the space. With a newer system in place, you can enjoy even cooling throughout your property and better overall airflow, thanks to improved fan technology in today’s modern systems.
Replacing an older HVAC or AC system with a newer model can also significantly improve air quality. Over time, dirt, dust, pollen, and other airborne particles accumulate in the air ducts and filters, leading to poor indoor air quality. Newer models are designed with modern filtration systems that capture more particles than ever before. This helps reduce the dust and debris in the air and improves indoor air quality and overall comfort.
Finally, replacing an older HVAC or AC system with a newer model can help reduce noise pollution in your home or office building. As components age and become worn out, they tend to make more noise due to wear-and-tear issues such as loose parts or worn bearings. By replacing these parts with newer ones, you can enjoy quieter operation while still maintaining comfortable temperatures throughout the year.
Modern air conditioning systems are built with advanced safety features that weren’t available in older models. These include heat sensors that shut down the unit when necessary and safeguards against short-circuiting and other malfunctions that could present risk for fire and electrical hazards within your home or office space. By replacing an old AC unit with a newer one, you can rest easy knowing that you have taken all necessary steps towards keeping everyone safe and comfortable inside your property all year round.
Modern AC systems are also designed with energy efficiency in mind, which helps reduce energy costs and minimize environmental impact. Many newer models also come equipped with smart features such as Wi-Fi enabled thermostats and remote control access options, making them even easier to use while helping ensure optimal performance at all times. By utilizing these types of features, you can be sure that your air conditioner is running efficiently while also preventing any potential malfunctions due to improper operation or maintenance issues.

Understanding The AC Replacement Process

The good news is that our team will be there with you every step of the way. From selecting the right unit to overseeing installation and follow-up maintenance, we are here to support you!
The first step is to choose the right unit for your needs. Start by considering the size of your home or business and then look at different types of units (central AC systems, heat pumps, etc.) that will work best in your space. It’s important to find a unit that fits both your budget and energy efficiency requirements. Once you’ve selected a unit, you’ll need to make sure it is properly sized for optimal performance. If not sized correctly, it could result in higher energy bills or even damage the system itself! You can trust our staff here at Green Leaf Air Conditioning, Heating, and Plumbing with helping you select the best option for your needs.
Once you’ve selected the right unit for your needs, it’s time to prepare for installation day! This includes removing any furniture or other obstacles that may interfere with their work. Additionally, keep in mind that upgraded wiring may be necessary if you’re upgrading from an older model; if so, you should contact an electrician prior to installation day so they can take care of any necessary changes before our technicians arrive on site.

When It’s Time For A New AC Unit, Don’t Trust Just Anyone
We’ll Make Sure The Job Is Done Right
When it comes time to replace your air conditioning system, you want to choose a professional service provider with experience and expertise. It’s important to select an AC replacement service provider that is trustworthy, knowledgeable, and reliable. Here, we will provide some tips and guidelines for choosing the right air conditioning replacement services for your needs.
Research Local Companies
When searching for a qualified AC replacement service provider, be sure to research local companies that offer these types of services. Do some research online and read customer reviews to get a better idea of their reputation in the community. Make sure they have good customer feedback, are certified by the proper agencies, and have the resources and manpower necessary to handle your job.
Compare Prices
Once you’ve narrowed down your list of potential AC replacement providers, compare their prices and services offered. Don’t just choose the cheapest option—make sure that the company you choose offers quality products at fair prices. Some companies may offer lower rates but may not use quality materials or provide adequate customer service. You want to make sure that you’re getting value for your money when selecting an AC replacement service provider.
Check References/Reviews
Finally, be sure to check references or reviews from other customers who have used the company before making your selection. Ask friends or family members who they recommend or look up online reviews on sites like Google or Yelp! Reviews can give you valuable insight into what kind of experience other customers had with various providers, which can help you make an informed decision when choosing an AC replacement service provider.
Selecting the right AC replacement service provider is essential if you want your new system installed correctly and safely while also ensuring maximum efficiency in terms of energy savings over time. Be sure to do your due diligence by researching local companies, comparing prices, and reading customer reviews before making a selection so that you can find a reputable company who provides quality products at fair prices with excellent customer service. What To Expect From Your New AC Unit
Making Sure You’re Prepared
If you’re a homeowner or business operator in the Round Rock & North Austin area, installing an air conditioning unit is probably at the top of your to-do list. However, before rushing out to purchase one, it’s important to know what to expect from your new AC unit.
When looking for your new AC unit, the efficiency ratings are one of the most important factors that you should consider. The rating tells how much energy the unit consumes compared to how much cooling power it provides. The higher the rating, the less energy it will consume in order to cool down your home or business. It’s also important to note that higher efficiency ratings generally come with a higher price tag.
Another factor that should be taken into consideration when selecting a new AC unit is its noise level. Most air conditioners produce some amount of noise, but some models are quieter than others. As such, it’s important to ask about this when shopping for a new system so you can find one that meets your needs without disturbing anyone around you.
Installing an air conditioning unit is not as simple as plugging it in and turning it on – there is far more involved than that! Depending on where and how your existing system was installed, additional work may be required before installation, which could affect both cost and time estimates associated with installation. Additionally, proper sizing and placement of vents are extremely important for an AC system to work properly; if these aren’t done correctly, you can expect poor performance from your unit. Properly trained professionals should be sought out in order to ensure all necessary steps are taken prior to installation and during installation itself.
